Charity Race Team >FAQs and Contact InfoHow do I join the Girls in the Game Charity Race Team?To join the Girls in the Game Charity Race Team, please contact Katie Darr at kdarr@girlsinthegame.org or 312.633.GAME (4263). You will be guided through mandatory registration on our online system with Active.com to create your free online fundraising website, and you must also fill out a general liability and fundraising commitment waiver and fax or mail it back to the Girls in the Game office. There is no additional registration fee to join the team. Racers, however, must pay their own race registration fee and provide proof of event registration. Racers who double their fundraising minimum or more for the Charity Race Team will be reimbursed for their race entry fee. As part of the registration process, you must provide a valid credit card. In the event that you do not meet your fundraising minimum by the date agreed upon, you will be liable for the remaining balance and this will be charged to your card. IMPORTANT: If you withdraw from your race for any reason (injury, expenses, race cancelation, etc.) you are still liable for your fundraising minimum to Girls in the Game. I’ve signed up, but now can my friend/partner/family member join too? Yes! Girls in the Game encourages racers to join with friends, family, co-workers and more! But each individual is required to sign a waiver separately and commit to the minimum fundraising level for their chosen race. Friends and family members may combine fundraising pages and campaign together as a team, but are each personally responsible for their minimum fundraising commitment. Can men join Girls in the Game's Charity Race Team? Of course! Men and women of all different backgrounds, ages, and abilities are welcome to join our team! Girls and young women are in as much need of male advocates as they are of females. We encourage everyone to get in the game! How much money do I have to raise? The fundraising commitment levels vary based on the level of commitment and benefits you choose. Please view the list of opportunities, here. As a team, our goal is to collectively raise $50,000 in 2010, which will help give 200 girls a healthy start by giving them the opportunity to attend Girls in the Game’s year-round healthy lifestyle programs. At Girls in the Game,80 percent of every dollar goes directly toward programming for the girls! I’ve never fundraised before. Will Girls in the Game help me raise the money? Girls in the Game recognizes that while some Charity Race Team members have fundraised in the past, not everyone has formal fundraising experience. Regardless of your level of experience, trust that YOU CAN DO IT – and Girls in the Game will help you every step of the way—all the way to the finish line! Each Team Member will get one-on-one help developing a personal fundraising strategy plan with a member from the Development team, either in person or over the phone. Your choice! You also will receive a comprehensive fundraising packet full of ideas to help you meet your goals. What happens if I don’t raise the money by my deadline? Girls in the Game asks that you provide a credit card when signing up for the Charity Race Team. If you cannot reach your fundraising goal for your chosen race by the provided deadline given at registration, Girls in the Game will charge the remaining balance to your card. Girls in the Game will send multiple reminders to ensure you remember the date and will do everything in our power to ensure you are successful in meeting the goal! Do you provide a training program? For the Chicago Area athletes, Girls in the Game partners with CARA (Chicago Area Runners Association) to provide training programs to help you reach your goals! Can people donate online to support me? Yes! Sign up for an event and Girls in the Game will provide you step-by-step instructions on how to create your own fundraising page for free at www.active.com! Still have questions?
